Backend Engineer

What position are we hiring for?

We are looking for a Backend Engineer to design, develop, and maintain internal and customer facing APIs and internal software integrations. The ideal candidate should be a data guru who can easily connect and synchronize information and data systems, applications, and third party APIs who support our business processes and customer needs. In this role you will: 

  • Use various APIs to download and analyze rate center pricing data from our carriers, determine whether or not we need to make any changes, and notify our customers affected by those changes.
  • Design, develop, and maintain software to synchronize data between our platform and other applications like Salesforce, ChurnZero, NetSuite, etc.
  • Design, develop, and maintain customer facing and internal APIs.
  • Use your MySQL superpowers to run ad hoc queries for our internal team.
  • Use the Rails console to troubleshoot and fix issues.

What skills will help you to be effective on our team?

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, Engineering, or relative experience in one of those fields
  • 3+ years of experience implementing ETL 
  • 3+ years of experience with use of REST APIs and SQL
  • 3+ years of experience with Linux and/or MacOS
  • Experience with complex data migration projects
  • Experience with integration between Salesforce and other 3rd party applications is highly preferred.
  • Proficiency with Linux and Bash
  • Proficiency in either Ruby, Python, or another high level scripting language
  • Experience with delivery of a SaaS product is ideal, but not required
  • A strong understanding of micro-services and related architectures
  • A high-level of accommodation and flexibility to work in a fast-paced environment of constant change 
  • Not afraid of deadlines and able to perform well under pressure
  • Strong attention to detail 
  • The ability to work independently, but also be a strong team player across the organization
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to communicate with anyone effectively
