CTM Culture

What Makes a Company Culture Great? One Team, Many Cultures.

by Hannah Hanover

What A Month of Celebration Looks Like at CallTrackingMetrics

What a month! June 2023 kept CallTrackingMetrics’ Events Committee busy planning for three in-office celebrations, and individual employees led the charge on initiatives that celebrated CTM’s community-driven values. With minorities making up 24.6% of CTM’s employees and with 37.6% women, CTM has good reason to celebrate many different cultural touchpoints year round. So what makes a great company culture for us at CTM? From observing Pride and Juneteenth to welcoming CTM’s 75th employee and raising money for Black Girls Code, our teams know how to celebrate what matters most: one team, many cultures.

Full of Pride at CTM

Pride flags at a company Pride breakfast. This is one of the ways CallTrackingMetrics celebrated Pride Month.

We kicked off June with an in-office Pride Week, which started with a company Pride breakfast of rainbow bagels and cream cheeses. Staff spent the early morning decorating our in-house cafe with rainbow flags, lais, beads, and stickers that staff could choose to pick up and wear throughout the day. All employees were invited to wear Pride-inspired clothing, and colorful shirts could be spotted throughout the office throughout the day (and rainbow face paint, too!).

“In light of today’s political challenges to LGBTQ+ rights, it’s more important than ever to celebrate Pride openly and without fear,” says Hannah Hanover, CTM’s Customer Communications Specialist. “It was really lovely to see the office full of rainbow decor and to celebrate with allies and other LGBTQ+ staff.”

As part of CTM’s Pride celebration, slides covering everything from LGBTQ communities’ history in politics and culture to queer entertainment and local demographic stats were displayed on TVs across the office.

Commemorating Juneteenth

Celebrating Juneteenth with cake and colleagues at CallTrackingMetrics.

To celebrate Juneeteenth and the historic emancipation of enslaved African Americans in the US, teams gathered in the cafe to chat and mingle while munching on cake decorated in African Liberation, or Pan-African, flag colors. Though Juneteenth has not been widely celebrated outside of Black communities until recent years, teams across CTM embrace the opportunity to commemorate Juneteenth each year by gathering together to celebrate and learn.

As part of our Juneteenth celebration, the office TV displays were packed with educational content on emancipation and Black history for the week of Juneteenth.

Robert Stuckley, CTM’s newest Associate Software Engineer, recently joined the team – just in time for June’s packed event schedule. When asked about his impression of CTM culture as a brand-new employee, he remarked, “You can really tell that everyone that makes these events happen really cares about what they’re doing and how to share that love with the rest of the company.”

Stuckley further reflected, “It’s very welcoming and I couldn’t have asked for a better introduction to the company. I really hope that every month is like this at CTM!”

Raising Money for Black Girls Code

Lola Ikusika raises money for Black Girls Code as part of CallTrackingMetrics June celebrations with a Tech Clearance Fiesta

To raise money for a cause with big, real-world impact, IT Support Specialist Lola Ikusika spearheaded a fundraiser for Black Girls Code, an organization on a mission to provide access to computer programming education for Black and brown girls across the US.

“The fundraising campaign for Black Girls Code truly reflects CTM as a company committed to supporting its community and embracing diversity and inclusion,” says Ikusika. “It highlights our shared belief in the importance of providing equal opportunities and empowering black girls in the world of technology.

The event, “CTM’s Tech Clearance Fiesta”, auctioned off a dozen used MacBooks, plus monitors and printers, at low costs. Together with CallTrackingMetrics’ company donation match, CTM raised and donated $6,000 to Black Girls Code.

Ikusika reflected,Overall, making contributions to this cause can lead to a transformative impact on the lives of young black girls while also making significant contributions to the advancement of the technology industry as a whole.”

Making Use of VTO (Volunteer Time Off)

Volunteer Time Off is put to good use at CallTrackingMetrics at the Maryland Food Bank

As an outgrowth of CTM’s Community-Driven core value, every employee can take up to 24 hours of VTO to donate time to charitable causes of their choice. Since joining CTM, Sean Nidecker, CTM’s Enterprise Account Executive, has become an avid volunteer.

“I’ve always enjoyed giving as much back to the community as I can, but, like many others, I’ve always been a little remiss in finding time for those types of opportunities,” says Nidecker. “But since the culture of service is so pervasive here at CallTrackingMetrics, like with the VTO policy, I can more easily find the time to try to make that difference for others.

Popular volunteer opportunities among staff include the Anne Arundel County Food Bank and Maryland Food Bank, the Baltimore Animal Rescue and Care Shelter (BARCS), Volunteers of America, Santa’s Helpers Anonymous, and more. Additionally, each employee is offered an annual company match of up to $200 in donations to charities of their choice, making CTM a great company culture fit for those who love to give back.

75 and Counting

The CTM staff finished the month strong by gathering together to celebrate the official start of our 75th employee! All employees joined in a mid-afternoon celebration, with comments from CEO and COO Todd and Laure Fisher on CTM’s growth over the past 12 years, from a call tracking company running out of a basement to a major player in the call tracking and attribution industry. Though CallTrackingMetrics has been profitable since day one, growth across teams continues to drive CTM’s offerings to new heights of innovation, expansion, and profitability. One of the big reasons for this growth? A great company culture.

Says Laure, “Every single person that makes up these 75 employees have had an impact on this company and were hand picked to be a part of this. We have always grown carefully and purposefully and achieving this milestone reminds us that we can still be ‘us’ and keep our core values and culture in place and thriving as we get bigger.”

Here’s to another 12 years as a company and another 75 employees!
